Either we are doing something wrong or there is a glitch in the program, can anybody advise.

When we receive invoices for parts supplied we check them against the price on the computer and adjust accordingly for any minor differences by using the option "Inventory Control" calling up the particular part number and batch number and selecting "Qty Edit" and overtyping the "Buy Price" field.

This works fine, however we have been tidying our inventory and when we have more than one batch of the same part number, making sure all the sell prices are the same. However, when you say "Yes" to "Apply above sell price for other same P/No's" it fails to change the other batch numbers.

1. Anybody have a better way to amend buy and sell prices

2. John - Is there a glitch in the program.

we use the same method as you describe, however, all previous batch numbered parts are updated, you may have a glitch.

Thanks NG, at least I know we are doing things the right way. Not sure why it works for one user but not for another. It may be a switch or something, its certainly not to do with user rights because I have full rights and it will not work for me.

Thanks for the help.

We are getting another curious glitch with using Quantity Edit to set prices.

When you click on "Qty Edit". When the form opens the cursor will be in the "BIN" field, if you hit return to move on or try and click on a different field, CAFAM throws up the list of locations and you have to reselect the bin location from the picklist before you can move on. There is nothing wrong with the location that is already in the field when the form opens and you end up picking exactly the same location from the picklist as was already in the field in the first place.

The strange thing is that it only happens every so often. One day you can move straight on without repopulating the field other days you can't.

It becomes really tedious having to constantly scroll down a list of some 150+ bin locations everytime you want to reprice an item of stock.

Anybody else coming across this problem ?

Hi, this "bin" problem is happening to us as well, whats worse is if you hanent noticed the drop screen the parts are booked in with the wrong bin location, which makes parts difficult to find.

Hi NG, thanks for the feedback,

There is obviously a problem with the program. Luckily our Office Administrator is quite hot on checking the fields as she goes through the screen, but if it was myself I have a tendency to hammer the return key until I get to the next field I want to change , so I can see how you can accidently populate fields with the wrong bin location.

Note to JD - There seems to be a new way of working in CAFAM were the program automatically throws up a pick list and defaults to the top record if you just hit return without looking. It happens with bin location in stores qty edit, it happens in aircraft type when you create a task and it happens in position when you install a component in AMP.

Before, CAFAM did not call up the picklist if the field was left blank and this worked fine. One solution would be to have the top field in every control file as a blank but you cannot add a blank field in the top of a control file, new entries always default to the bottom of the list. The only way to get a blank at the top of the list is to delete all of your fields and start from scratch with the blank field being the first entered.

I appreciate the idea of limiting entries to a set control list, but the new protocol makes it very likely for incorrect entires to be made.
