We find the Aircraft Status page (rg_frntw) a very helpful print to send to customers to keep them up to date on their aircraft. Unfortunately, in most cases, the operator will contact us to say thank you for the Status Report but could we remind them at what hours or date the engines and props are due overhaul.
a) Would it be possible to add an "Overhaul Life" and " Calendar O/haul due" against each of the engine and propeller lines.
b) Would this change cause problems for other users

It probably would be welcomed by other Users. Problem we have is how do we reconcile this info with the "real" component engine and prop in the FROTABL file. One possiblity is to search this file for the engine/prop as a Part /Serial Number. If found, print the data frpm the Component file, else just prints an empty line
This assumes you have entered them both accurately and they match. Would work !!

The idea of populating the main component information on the status page with the contents of the component records is something we introduced on a records program that I was involved in a whle back and it seemed to work well.
The way we tagged the particular component to appear on the status page was by an additional yes/no field against the component records. I must admit I can't remember how we ensured that the engines, props etc were grouped together.
One possibility would be to have coded fields on the status page i.e.
Four lines in the engine box E1 to E4, Four lines in the prop box P1 to P4 and say an anciliaries box with A1 through A8.
If you want to show the details of engine No.2 on the second line you tag it with E2 etc. The anciliaries can be used to tag the main undercarriage parts or other high cost items.
A tagged component record would bring across the Part Number, Serial Number, Time Since Overhaul, Cycles Since Overhaul, Overhaul life and Calendar due.
Do you think a Status Report such as above would have to be an alternative to the normal report. I'm not sure how many users would want to keep using the old report and I don't want to be linched by a group of angry CAFAM users.

I can see this working. But in order for it to be really effective, it would need to change the CAFAM front page altogether where we do away with the Engines and Props as a block of separate entry which at the present is a duplication and then rely on the data being reverse populated on the print purely from the rotable list that has been tagged by some pre-recognisable coding as you suggested (a great idea ).
As this is a very radical change that would impact othert Users, it might be something that would have to be set ON/OFF via Setting and Parameters
We will study and implement this one at some point when we are passed the current changes in progress

ph - I don't think I'd lynch you!!
We intend to make more use of the Status Sheet as an information sheet for the crews and outstation engineers. Having read the exchange between you and John this seems to be an excellent step-forward.

Thanks for the comments PD, I always get concerned that any changes I might suggest may result in lots of extra work for other users, so I tread a bit carefully.
We use the front status page quite a lot, its useful to keep operators up to date on engine and prop times etc. We also place a copy into each workpack so the engineers can easily see how much time is on each engine etc and we also include things such as the AMM and IPC references for the particular aircraft which we include in the "Comments" section. With 70 aircraft on the books it makes it a bit easier for the engineer to go to the correct manuals.
I have a further suggestion for the status page but I will open a seperate topic so John doesn't have to contend with several different suggestions/requests all under the same topic.
