I wonder if there is an easy fix for a problem I have with the Aircraft Status Page (rg_frntw).

The form/page only allows for one Engine Type and One Propeller Type against an aircraft, but quite a few General Aviation aircraft have engines with opposed rotation which means the port and stbd engines have different part numbers as well as the props i.e. I have a Piper PA34 with a TSIO-360-EB6 on one side and a LTSIO-360-EB1 on the other.

I have tried to combine the types such as L/TSIO-360-EB1/6 but its getting messy.

Does anybody else have this problem and would it be possible to have a seperate type against each position ?

The width of  the field is miserly 15chars.  A legacy from the MsDos days.  How about we double this so that you can enter both types into one field.  May need to use a scrolling entry field prompt and some challenging changes to fit it on the form rg_frntw.

This is far more achievable (i.e. read "easier").  Let me know your thoughts

I'm not sure if increasing the size of the field is really the best fix. Using the previous example, if we widen the field so we can fit in the combined type designation as "L/TSIO-360-EB1/6" then how can you tell which side has the "LTSIO" engine, also, is the TSIO engine a 360-EB1 or is it an EB6.

A general aviation engine type can run to 15 characters, suppose we decide that no G.A. aircraft has more than two engines that would be 30 characters plus you would need to designate which was left and which was right so lets say you use "LH" and "RH", add in a couple of spaces so that it doesn't turn into one long stream of characters and you get 37 characters.

A possible fix would be the idea being discussed under a different topic, which is the idea of pulling the info from the actual component records for the engine, prop etc. this would mean that each line would contain details from the particular installation.

I'd be interested in your thoughts on the above.

If we did widen the field, it is only as help to what we have at the present.  You could the enter  LTSIO-360-EB6/TSIO-360-EB1, clearly showing two engines. Much better would be the soultion discussed in the other topic
