Currently the Trade field in the Call-Up form (fdtsbad) has only two characters.

We use CAFAM to produce worksheets by trade for the hangar floor using the codes

AF = Airframe, AV = Avionics, EL = Electrical & EN = Engine.

We are looking at using CAFAM slighlty differently and want to split the engine worksheets into Port and Stbd, we could create two new codes LE and RE but it would be better if the full description appeared on the top of the worksheets.

Is it possible to open the Trade field to 10 characters so we can enter the trade in full.

This change shouldn't have any effect on other users.

Trade field is too hard to extend.  Impacts several reports, screens and tables.  Better I think to introduce a new "look-up" table in some future revision that you set in Utilities.  The table would be based on the 2-char to be used in the program with a 20 char description that could then be linked at print time to appear on the w/sheets

What do you think ?

Sounds like it would work.

I appreciate this sort of change causes a lot of problems and could impact on other users.

At present we are using seperate additional worksheets to record defects, these are produced from a word processor and are printed onto coloured paper i.e. Blue for Airframe, Pink for Avionics, Yellow for engines etc.

I am trying to automate as much as possible and produce these sheets from CAFAM, I have managed to get away with not having coloured worksheets which will simplify things but I will be pushing my luck if I have to use abbreviated trades such as AV and LE on the top of each sheet.

Thanks for your consideration of this suggestion and I will watch out for the revision.
