When we prepare a workpack for the hangar floor, one of the functions Tech Records carries out is to photocopy any relevant service bulletins, service letters or airworthiness directives to help save a bit of the engineers time and help production.
Our first improvement is that we are scanning these documents and holding them on our server so we can easily select the required documents and print them rather than having to take hard copies out of files and take them backward and forward to the photocopier.
Our long term aim would be that individual call ups in CAFAM include a field that has the path to the file on the server and will print the particular document as part of the workpack if it is one of the items called up.
I know this is not a simple change but it would be a big saving in man hours for preparing workpacks.
I am not sure if other companies go to the trouble of including SB's, SIL's etc in the workpack so I am not sure if this would benefit other users.
